Frugal Mom’s Guide

Amazon Prime Day is fast approaching!  It starts at 3 pm ET on July 16th and runs for 36 hours through July 17th.  In 2017 this sale grew to be their 2nd biggest shopping day ever!  Their largest day was Prime Day 2016.  What’s the big fuss?  Prime Day is where Amazon deeply cuts prices on tons of items, that are already marked down, for their Amazon Prime Members.  That means great savings for you if you’re a member.

Like what kind of savings?  In 2016, when my youngest was just a few weeks old, we ordered about a 6 month supply of diapers and wipes for 75% off regular retail.  I was amazed at what we saved, not to mention not having to run to the store for diapers and wipes. You know how fast you go through those things with babies.

To help you get in on the discounts and make navigating Amazon Prime Day easy I’ve put together some tips for getting ready, and what types of deals to look for.  I’ll also share with you some specials they have leading up to the big day.

Sign-Up!

To get in on the deals you have to be an Amazon Prime Member.  If you’re not one already, that’s okay.  They offer a free trial membership for 30 days.  To sign up you  simply click on the image below  (you can cancel at any time.)

So it doesn’t cost you a thing initially to sign up and get huge savings.  There are perks for joining though like free two-day shipping, and streaming movies and TV.  Gotta love that!

Now that you’re a part of Amazon Prime family let’s dig in for some tips on how you can get great deals for you and your family.  If you’re frugal like me it’s a great idea to take advantage of these sales.  There are a lot of items to sift through though so I’ve taken out all the guess-work for you.

Types of Deals To Look For

  • Deal of the Day Deals — These items are available the entire time Prime Day runs, but may sell out fast.  These are not the same as lightning deals.
  • Regular Discounts — Just like the term says, these are regular items that have major markdowns you can order at any time, though sellers may have limited quantities.
  • Lightning Deals — These are limited quantity items that are on sale for a limited time.  They will pop up throughout the 36 hour sale period.

Make A Shopping List

Certain deals are not released until Prime Day starts.  To help me know what to look for on the sale day I’ve made a list of things I’d like stock up on.  I may not get every item on my list, but this list will help narrow my focus in my search for savings since there is a lot on Amazon.

As an added incentive to you, I will share any deals I find on my Facebook page.  Be sure to follow my Facebook page to stay up to date.  You can follow me here.  All you’ll have to do is click on the link on my page and order from there.

I’m breaking my list into several categories:

Kid/Toddler Essentials

  • Diapers
  • Wipes
  • Shampoo/Bath wash
  • Socks and Underwear
  • Kids basic clothing for fall/winter like long sleeve shirts, pants, leggings

School Supplies

Household Items
